Week 6 Headlines:
Few King Pins are now almost guaranteed to make the league play-off, but Dent'n'Wood still need a few points in their final game (against Few King Pins) to be sure of meeting them again in the grand final.
A surprise defeat 6 - 4 for Dent'n'Wood at the hands of Lads' Night Out has given Big 'Uns 2 and Best Sellers II a sniff of a chance of overtaking them in the final week of the season. Ben Denton scored 36 but this wasn't enough to prevent Dent'n'Wood from suffering their second defeat of the season.
Few King Pins scored the second highest total of the season (200) as they defeated Last Six 8 - 2 despite Last Six scoring 184 pins. Tom Wigley hit a total of 39 and was ably assisted by Charlie Lee (34) and Steve Lee (33). Stuart Pike scored 35 in reply for Last Six.
Best Sellers II failed to capitalise on their opportunity to close the gap with the top teams as they scored just 152 pins losing 8 - 2 to Big'Uns 2. Bert Lovegrove scored 34 and Nathan Bone toppled 33.
Week 7 Headlines:
Things have taken a dramatic change in the league at the end of week 7 as Big 'Uns 2 thrashed Lads' Night Out to leapfrog both Dent'n'Wood and Few King Pins to top the table.
Dent'n'Wood and Few King Pins still have to play each other in the final game of the season, with DNW needing to take 7 points off the as-yet-undefeated FKP team to make the play-off. FKP need just one point from that game.
Big 'Uns 2 put on a huge 203 pins with Nathan Bone scoring a 10 spare on his way to 40 and Bert Lovegrove with an 11 spare in his 38. Tom Morgan scored 35 in reply for LNO.
Last Six and Stuart's Summer Sizzlers were just one pin apart as they shared the spoils with a 5 all draw. Dave Quinn with 36 and Steve Sherwood on 35.
Stuart's Summer Sizzlers face Wooden Spooners in the other final game of the season to see who can pick up the coveted wooden spoon. Wooden Spooners just lost out to Best Sellers II 6 - 4.
Final Week Headlines:
The final week of league games saw two important clashes at both ends of the table. Dent'n'Wood went into their final game against the undefeated Few King Pins knowing that only 7 or more points would be enough to make the league play-off final. After losing the first leg they were seriously up against it but still put in a strong performance to win the game 6 - 4 to finish agonisingly one point short of the final two - but had the consolation of being the only team to beat FKP this season. Chris Child scored an excellent 38 which even featured a 9 spare, and Jeremy Denton 35. Charlie Lee scored 36 in reply.
At the other end of the table bottom placed Stuart's Summer Sizzlers took on second bottom Wooden Spooners. 4 Points would have been enough for both teams to leap-frog Lads' Night Out, but Wooden Spooners had other ideas with a big total of 192 pins to win the game 8 - 2. Phil Kent and Rad Ramsey scored 38 with Andy Knight and Stuart Deeks both scoring 36 for The Sizzlers.
The league final will now be between Few King Pins and surprise package, Big'Uns 2.
Special congratulations to Carl Wood for winning the averages (again) with a new record of 38.2. Also congratulations to Courtney Hicks for winning the ladies averages with 29.7
